David Glaser has extensive international experience in the retail, merchandising and service industries. Glaser has served as Company Secretary of Barbeques Galore since 1994. In addition to his role as Secretary, he provided retail management accounting services for the retail subsidiary of the company from 1996 to 1998. Also, from 1988 to 1994, he served as the financial administrator to certain of the company’s other subsidiaries. Prior to joining Barbeques Galore, Glaser was a partner at Arthur Andersen in South Africa.
David JamesDavid James has served as Chief Financial Officer of Barbeques Galore since 1997. From 1992 to 1996, James held various financial positions at the company, including General Manager—Finance & Administration. From 1996 to 1997, James was Finance Director for HMV Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of EMI plc. Prior to joining Barbeques Galore in 1992, James served as Senior Audit Manager for KPMG in Australia.
Kevin RalphsKevin Ralphs has served as Chief Financial Officer of Barbeques Galore USA since 1989. From 1988 to 1989, Ralphs was Controller of Galore USA. Prior to joining the company, Ralphs served as Controller for American Digital Products, Inc., a distributor of computer peripherals in the Northeast United States, Treasurer for Hosken Intermediaries, Inc., a reinsurance brokerage firm, and Financial Manager for Royal Beech-Nut Pty Ltd., a foreign subsidiary of Nabisco.
Benjamin RamseyBenjamin Ramsey has served as Executive Vice President responsible for store operations, human resources, training and development, new store development, and barbecue sales to real estate developers/contractors since August 1999. Ramsey most recently was director of store development. Prior to that, he served as merchandising manager. He has also held several other management positions during his tenure with Barbeques Galore, including district and store manager. Prior to joining the company, Ramsey held a variety of management positions over a 12-year period for 7-Eleven, Inc., formerly The Southland Corporation.
Sam LinzSam Linz brings to Barbeques Galore more than 32 years of experience in the retail industry. Linz has served as Chairman of the Board since 1982. Until 1997, Linz also served as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Rebel Sport Limited, a leading national sports superstore chain in Australia which he co-founded; he remained a major shareholder until he sold his interest in July 1997. Prior to joining Barbeques Galore, in association with Mr. Sydney Selati, Linz also developed and managed an extensive chain of liquor stores and hotels in South Africa.
Robert GavshonRobert Gavshon’s experience encompasses more than 17 years in the retail industry. He has served as Babrbeques Galores’s General Counsel since 1983 and as Deputy Chairman of the Board since 1993. He also served as a non-executive director of the Board of Rebel Sport Limited, a leading national sports superstore in Australia, until 1997. Prior to joining Barbeques Galore, Gavshon worked for a multinational company based in Sydney, Australia, holding the positions of group counsel and director of corporate affairs. Before that, he was a partner in a large commercial law firm in South Africa.
John PriceSince 1989, John Price has held the positions of Head of Research and Product Development as well as Director of Barbeques Galore, having joined the Company as General Manager of Wholesale in 1981. Prior to joining Barbeques Galore, Price co-founded and served as Managing Director of Cook-On-Gas Products Pty Limited, a developer and manufacturer of consumer gas products which was acquired by Barbeques Galore in 1981. Price has over 26 years of experience in the development and marketing of consumer gas products.
Sydney SelatiSydney Selati is a retail industry veteran with his more than 32 years of experience. Selati has held the position of President of Barbeques Galore USA since 1988 and Director of Barbeques Galore since 1997. Prior to joining the company, from 1984 to 1988, he was President of Sussex Group Limited, a chain of retail furniture stores, including Huffman-Koos, Colby’s and Barker Brothers. Before that, Selati developed and managed a large chain of liquor stores and hotels in South Africa in association with Mr. Sam Linz.
Michael LindbladMichael Lindblad joined the Barbeques Galore USA team as Chief Executive Officer in September 2003. He is responsible for all areas pertaining to U.S. retail operations, with all senior U.S. operating executives reporting directly to him. Lindblad brings a wealth of senior executive experience in the retail industry including, most recently, Regional Vice President of the Western and Midwestern regions for Bloomingdales Department Stores. During his tenure at Bloomindales he planned and directed their profitable expansion to the West Coast. Prior to Bloomingdales, Lindblad served in a variety of capacities at The May Department Stores Company including Senior Vice President of Stores and Visual Merchandising for the L.S. Ayres division.
Gordan HowlettGordan Howlett has served as a non-executive Director of Barbeques Galore since 1991. Howlett currently is Chief Executive Officer of Thorn Asia Pacific and a non-executive Director of Arthur Yates & Company Limited, Kennards Hire Pty Limited and Gordan Norman & Co Pty Limited. Howlett previously served as Executive General Manager—Operations for Qantas Airways from 1994 to 1997, and Managing Director of Avis Australia and Vice President of Avis throughout Asia Pacific from 1981 to 1994.
