Not perfect but overall recommended02/03/2013
Being a mechanical engineer who likes to work on cars assembly wasn't too difficult but I can understand how less mechanical types would have a tough time. The illustrations were very poor and I had to modify two fasteners to get them to work. And yes it does leak but that does not seem to compromise the results. I am not an expert smoker by any means but right from the beginning I got some great results. I found it easy to maintain 200-225 degrees the first time I used it to smoke 9 turkey drumsticks for Thanksgiving and they came out great. This thing is perfect for cooking a tri tip at about 375-400 degrees with a bed of coals in the main chamber and some coals and an applewood chunk in the offset compartment. One disappointment though is I thought I would be able to make a hot fire for grilling steaks and burgers but for some reason I can't get that. Overall, and considering the price, a thumbs up.

Two weeks ago, I bought my first smoker from BBQ Galore in Torrance. The staff helped me out very much with the things I needed to get started. The grill was easy to put together based on the instructions. Two days later I smoked my first set of Baby Back ribs using the 3-2-1 method. The grill really held it's heat and the meat came out just like reciept says. The staff also introduced me to some BBQ sauce and Dry Rub that was good also. I recommend anybody looking to get into smoker buy this grill. At $199.00 the price is great!!

I've used this smoker a lot now and absolutly love it! The assembly isn't hard at all...just takes a little common sense. I've done everything from grilled steaks to smoked thanksgiving birds on it and have no complaints. I did seal the lid and extended the stack but that's expected with a smoker under a grand.lol If you buy it you won't regret it!!!

I really wanted to like this smoker/BBQ set, but I fear it is truly untried. It came in a big box with really bad instructions. Then one of the pieces was bent...and from there it was just one thing after another. I am not even sure i know how to use it properly...so I havent tried it yet! I want to...but Geez! I dont want to break anything irrevocably either! Better instructions would be AWESOME...because that paperwork that was sent must have come straight from IKEA. (it looks to be just pictures and dotted lines..if you are lucky..and its a copy of a copy). I wonder if i could get some pictures sent to me, online so i could verify that its put together right? and one in action so I know that we would be using it right. THAT would be IDEAL.

The smoker is solid built and is a nice size. I bought it for a present for my husband. The one down side to it is that the instructions for assembly are horrible and hard to follow. It is definitely a 2 person job too. Now that we have it assembled, we really are impressed with it.

This is another cheap offset I bought one a couple months ago smoke leaks everywhere you will need to do a lot of modifications for this smoker.

Instructions left a lot to be desired. Pictures were not clear for part placement and not complete. Part labeling was not clear particularly on the nuts and bolts. Subtle differences were not identified. Not all holes matched up which required some drilling and reaming. On the plus side parts were high quality and stood up well under assembly. Once assembled it made a good looking unit. Burn in was accomplished and some sausage smoked. Temparture was easy to maintain and the ability to control optimum temparture was easy to maintain. Weak points include the grates which do not appear to be durable. I would like to see more durable grates and hope that they will be available for replacement. I am concerned that by closing all of the stores in this area that the company may not be available to replace the grates.
